Formula

Margin% = ((SP−CP)/SP)×100. Markup% = ((SP−CP)/CP)×100.

Worked Example

Example: Cost $40, price $60 → margin 33.3%, markup 50%.

What the Result Means

Margin is relative to price; markup is relative to cost—do not confuse them.
